The oval to ovate leaves are purple red at first. Later they get pink and creamy margins that have various widths. During the summer months the purple-red colour changes to brown purple. Size of the leaf is 4 - 9 cm. Moisture-retentive soil prevents scorching by the sun. Blooms inconspicuously. Park tree preferring well-drained soil, rich in humus content. Moderate wind resistance.
