Originating from a cross between Lagerstroemia indica and L. fauriei, 'Natchez' is one of the better hybrids in this genus. Forms a tree 6-9 m tall with a round crown. The cinnamon-brown bark, which flakes off lighter grey-brown, is an important added feature. The summer's glossy dark green leaves turn orange to red in autumn, depending on local conditions and temperature. In the second half of summer, the white flowers open, arranged in up to 30 cm long, dense panicles. The petals are typically fringed, giving the flowers a "fluffy" appearance. The yellow stamens add a subtle touch of colour.
Grows in any soil type, if somewhat permeable, and tolerates drought and lots of heat. 'Natchez' is one of the better tree cultivars for use in temperate climates. It tolerates semi-paved areas and can be used as avenue tree. Naturally, it is also a beautiful park or garden tree. Hardiness zone 8a.
Lagerstroemia 'Natchez' can eventually reach a height of 6-9 m, depending on the site and climate conditions.
Lagerstroemia 'Natchez' is átlagos and can eventually reach a height of 6-9 m, depending on the site and climate conditions.
The leaves of Lagerstroemia 'Natchez' turn sárga, narancssárga, piros in autumn.
The right time to plant Lagerstroemia 'Natchez' is during the dormancy period. In Western Europe, Lagerstroemia 'Natchez' with root balls can generally be planted from mid-November to late April, although this depends strongly on the climatic conditions and the species of tree.
Lagerstroemia 'Natchez' blooms in július, augusztus.
