A vigorous ornamental apple tree with an oval crown and a height of 6 m. The leaves are oval and of a fresh green colour. 'Golden Hornet' produces abundant flowers. In the bud they are dark purple-pink, turn light purple on opening and, once fully opened, turn white. The flowers are single. From late summer they are followed by many fruits that remain on the tree for a long time. They are approx. 2.5 cm in diameter and a deep yellow colour. Can be used in parks, public gardens and gardens. The tree makes heavy demands on the soil as regards moisture supply and fertility. Sensitive to sea wind.
