Malus 'Hopa' has a somewhat variable crown with branches spreading wide. Height 4 - 6 m. The oval leaves are purplish-green. The flowers in bud are carmine coloured but turn dark lilac-pink to pale lilac-red after opening: they are single. The diameter of the flower is approx. 4 cm. The fruit is bright red and remains hanging in the tree until mid-October. Diameter of fruit 2 - 3 cm. Can be used in parks, public gardens and small gardens. It makes heavy demands on the soil as regards moisture supply and fertility. 'Hopa' is very sensitive to scab. Winter hardiness zone: 4
