Hybrid between Q. macrocarpa and Q. robur which was found as a spontaneous seedling. It is a relatively vigorous large tree with a broad pyramidal crown. Eventually the tree can grow to over 20 m tall with a spread of around 15 m. Hardly any or no cork is produced on older twigs and bark: the bark’s grooves form rectangular plates. The obovate to elongated-obovate leaf is regularly shallow lobed with triangular lobes that have rounded tips. The leaf is glossy green, 6 to 15 cm long. The ovoid fruit are 1.8 to 3 cm in size. It is half enclosed by the cupule that is covered with short, slightly silver-coloured, contiguous scales. A particularly hardy and wind-resistant, imposing park tree.
