Taxodium distichum 'Pévé Minaret' 'Minaret' is a particularly characteristic cultivar that initially has a columnar crown, but later becomes narrowly pyramidal. It forms a small tree of 3 - 4 m in height. The young twigs are green to red-brown on the sunny side. The older bark is red-brown and fibrously flaky, typical of T. distichum. The needles are on short shoots. The needles and short shoots fall off simultaneously in autumn. On the long shoots, the foliage is scaly. The foliage emerges bright green, once mature is dark green. The autumn colour is orange-brown. The needles are very dense and smaller than those of the species. This gives 'Pevé Minaret' a distinctly more compact appearance. It tolerates moist to wet soils and can be used in semi-paved areas. Beautiful cultivar for use in (small) gardens, squares, in residential areas and in cemeteries. 'Pevé Minaret' was found as a seedling by Piet Vergeldt from Lottum. Hardiness zone: 6a
