This medium-sized tree is in all aspects and characteristics akin to the previously described 'Aureum'. The only difference is the colour of the leaves. The juvenile foliage of 'Rubrum' is deep purple-red and turns to a dark reddish green during summer. In autumn the leaves turn deep yellow. Unlike the yellow leaves of 'Aureum', 'Rubrum' is insensitive to scorch during sunny periods in summer. 'Rubrum' is an excellent street and park tree, but is less tolerant to hard surfaces than the yellow-leaved 'Aureum'.
Acer cappadocicum 'Rubrum' can eventually reach a height of 10 - 15 m, depending on the site and climate conditions.
Acer cappadocicum 'Rubrum' is átlagos and can eventually reach a height of 10 - 15 m, depending on the site and climate conditions.
The leaves of Acer cappadocicum 'Rubrum' turn sárga in autumn.
The right time to plant Acer cappadocicum 'Rubrum' is during the dormancy period. In Western Europe, Acer cappadocicum 'Rubrum' with root balls can generally be planted from mid-November to late April, although this depends strongly on the climatic conditions and the species of tree.
