Attractive large shrub to small tree with vertical growth pattern. ‘Fireglow’ resembles ‘Bloodgood’ in some respects but differs in that the leaves are less deeply lobed. The leaf colour of ‘Fireglow’ is also rather redder. The vigorously growing shoots are fairly slender. The young leaf emerges pinkish-red, turning dark red later. In autumn it turns purplish red with dark green. The leaves are flaming red, especially when backlit, and the tree does full justice to its cultivar name. Highly suitable for locations for which ‘Bloodgood’ would be too big.
Acer palmatum 'Fireglow' can eventually reach a height of 4 - 6 m, depending on the site and climate conditions.

The right time to plant Acer palmatum 'Fireglow' is during the dormancy period. In Western Europe, Acer palmatum 'Fireglow' with root balls can generally be planted from mid-November to late April, although this depends strongly on the climatic conditions and the species of tree.
