Lovely, densely branched tree growing to around 8 m. The crown is ovoid to narrow oval and stays slender when mature. The thick, mature bark is grey-brown and deeply grooved revealing the light brown-yellow bast. Like the species, the tips of the stiff, glossy, dark green needles are curved inwards, which is particularly striking on young shoots. The cones are in twos or threes on short stems. They are dark green to bluish purple, turning matt light brown to grey when ripening. Attractive, quite slender form that is suitable for gardens too. Has few demands as to soil, tolerates limy soil and wind.
